Real families. Real tools. No judgment.
Helping parents, youth, and families have the conversations that matter, before a crisis happens.
What if parents didn't have to wait for a crisis to learn how to listen?
HYMOM began as a doctoral project exploring how families can communicate before emotional distress becomes a crisis. The podcast became the first step, bringing parents, youth, and professionals together for honest conversations.
Retired U.S. Army veteran turned crisis responder and family communication advocate.
Myiesha spent her career in uniform before turning her attention to the families carrying invisible wounds at home. As a crisis responder and doctoral researcher in social work, she has sat across from teenagers in their darkest moments and the parents desperate to reach them. HYMOM grew out of that work: a place to practice the conversation most families never get to have until it's too late. Her focus now includes veteran and military-connected families navigating a distress all their own.
